• waterfire saga by jennifer donnolley (the best mermaid-related series i’ve ever read - consistently amazing, has lots of characters of color!!)

• daughter of smoke and bone by laini taylor

historical:

• the tea rose by jennifer donnelley
• mistress of rome by kate quinn
• between shades of gray by ruta sepetys
• rebel queen by michelle moran

mental illness/tough subjects:

these books handle really triggering subjects but are handled very well.
